In 2006, he joined BASF SE in Ludwigshafen as a research chemist in the department chemicals research and engineering. As a laboratory team leader in the group “reactive molecules” (acetylene, phosgene and hydrogen cyanide chemistry), he worked on the synthesis of vinyl compounds and the upscale to industrial production. In addition to the classical “Reppe” chemistry, this also included modern homogeneously catalyzed variants. Afterwards, he worked in BASF’s global development of surfactants and chelates as a laboratory team leader, with special focus on the sustainable complexing agent Trilon®M and the collaboration in customer partnerships. After that, he worked as global project manager for innovation projects in the area of superabsorbent polymers in the business unit “Hygiene” of BASF SE. In 2019 he was appointed professor of “Sustainable Chemistry” at FH Aachen (University of Applied Science) and since 2021, he is director of the Institute of Applied Polymer Chemistry (IAP). The institute’s research focus on interdisciplinary projects along the whole value chain of polymers, trying to support applied chemistries’ contribution to a sustainable future.

Bibliography Markus Biel studied chemistry at the University of Karlsruhe (KIT) and received his PhD in Organic Chemistry at the University of Leipzig with an

["post-437","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
